A man has been arrested in connection with an assault on a taxi driver in Kelowna.
A cab operator told police he was driving a customer to the Raymer Road and Riley Court area early this morning (Jan. 17).
Once arriving, the passenger allegedly assaulted the driver by striking him with a weapon causing the taxi to drive into a fence. The suspect then robbed the driver and fled on foot.
The taxi driver originally told police there were two males in his car.
“Upon further discussion with the victim at a local hospital, he was able to confirm there was only one passenger and not two as originally believed,” Ryan Watters, RCMP spokesperson, said.
A male suspect was taken into custody with the case under investigation.
