Pattison Media names journalism scholarship recipients
Pattison Media has announced the awarding of four scholarships valued at $2,500 each, to deserving students enrolled in journalism studies at institutions across Western Canada.
The B.C.-based company recognizes there are significant challenges in both the recruiting of well-trained individuals for news and information department positions, and there are significant challenges for individuals in the underrepresented groups including:
• Indigenous persons
• Persons with disabilities
• Members of visible minorities
• Women
Pattison Media expanded the Prairie Equity Scholarship to cover all Western Canadian provinces and increased the annual scholarship offering to a total of up to $10,000.
The following are the four recipients chosen from a significant number of applicants:
- Tchadas Leo, Broadcast Journalism, BCIT Broadcasting and Online Journalism
- Cara Ellingboe, Professional Communications Program, Grant MacEwan University
- Tracy Thomas , Journalism Major, Grant MacEwan University
- Jura McIlraith, Creative Communications, Red River Polytechnic
