Drugs, vehicles, & cash recovered in Kelowna bust
An investigation stemming from a suspicious vehicle led to the seizure of large quantities of drugs in Kelowna.
The Proactive Enforcement Unit launched a drug investigation this past February after an Acura TL was seen conducting several short-duration meetings around Kelowna.
The RCMP said several days of surveillance resulted in officers witnessing numerous actions consistent with drug dealing, which led investigators to believe this was part of a drug trafficking organization operating.
It led to the officers identifying the individuals involved, the vehicles used, and the stash site in Kelowna.
On May 23, police executed a search warrant at the residence believed to be a stash site and arrested three Kelowna residents.
As a result of the search, police discovered and seized over one kilogram of fentanyl, one kilogram of crack and powder cocaine, and over 10 ounces of crystal methamphetamine.
Police also reportedly seized “a significant amount of cash,” evidence of fentanyl and crack production, cell phones, and three vehicles.
The Mounties noted the drugs had very high street value.
“This seizure will have a significant impact on the community,” said Sgt Desmond Kiehlbauch, in charge of the Kelowna Proactive Enforcement Unit.
“The dangerous substances could have affected over 10,000 individuals and the removal off the streets has saved lives. Police will continue to focus on those who target vulnerable populations with highly toxic substances.”
The arrested individuals face numerous charges including Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Production of Substances.
It was not said if the individuals remain in custody or if court dates had been set.
