Four stolen vehicles recovered
Mounties in Kelowna have recovered a handful of stolen off-road vehicles.
The RCMP stated its Target Team, assisted by Police Dog Services and general duty officers, executed a search warrant at a property in the 2800 block of Appaloosa Rd. in Kelowna on July 14.
Police searched the property and reportedly recovered several recreational vehicles, some of which had been tampered with and were beyond recovery.
Officers were able to recover three stolen utility task vehicles, a 2023 Kawasaki Teryx, a 2018 Polaris Ranger, and a 2013 Polaris Razer. A stolen Honda all terrain vehicle was also recovered.
The vehicles, all of which were reported stolen from the Kelowna area within the past month, had a total recovery value of $75,000.
Police also found and seized two insecure firearms and approximately three ounces of suspected methamphetamine.
“This coordinated investigation shows the continued efforts of the Kelowna RCMP and its proactive enforcement units including the Target Team to reduce property crime and target active offenders in our community,” Cpl. Tanguay of the Kelowna RCMP Target Team said.
“Many of these owners rely on these UTV vehicles for their livelihood and for others it is an expensive investment into their recreational pastime.”
One person was arrested at the scene, and the 30-year-old man was later released from custody on conditions to appear in court at a later date.
The investigation is ongoing and police say the a report to Crown counsel will be submitted to the B.C. Prosecution Service for charge approvals.
Four other individuals who were at the residence when the search warrant was executed were released pending further investigation.
