Spot fire sparked east of Kelowna, fire near Mabel Lake being held
A small fire was discovered in the Regional District of Central Okanagan Thursday afternoon, while one in the North Okanagan is no longer at risk of spreading.
The B.C.Wildfire Service (BCWS) reported the fire east of Kelowna, near Graystokes Provincial Park north of Big White, at 5 p.m. August 10.
At last update the fire was spot-sized at 0.009 hectares, and classified as out of control.
The cause was not known, and the Wildfire Service did not have any resources immediately assigned to the fire.
Meanwhile, the BCWS stated the Kidney Lake wildfire north of Mabel Lake is being held.
The BCWS reclassified the 1.5-hectare fire in the Mabel Range area just before 1 p.m. Thursday.
That fire is suspected to have been caused by a lightning strike on Tuesday, August 8.
