Canada’s largest whiskey lottery underway
It has become a highly anticipated annual event for Vernon based Okanagan Spirits Distillery. The 10th batch of Laird of Fintry single malt whisky is ready for sale.
The “Laird” has proved so popular the distillery holds an annual lottery just for the right to purchase a bottle.
“It is definitely screaming along right now we are past the 20,000 entry mark and I expect we will hit 30,000 by the time we close the lottery,” CEO Tyler Dyck told Vernon Matters.
The lottery closes at midnight on September 25, with winners announced in four batches to ease the pressure on the shipping department.
Batch 10 was aged in single use oak barrels for five years and then finished in fortified Foche barrels from Quails Gate Winery.
“The conditions in 2017 produced an ideal crop and our distillers continue to learn every year from the past,” Dyck said. “It is much like wine, because it is a natural product, it will vary from batch to batch.”
You must be 19 plus to enter, there is no charge to enter the lottery and no obligation to purchase. To get in on the lottery click here.
