Crash sends vehicle into lake
A tire blow-out is believed to have been the cause of a collision that caused a vehicle to go into Okanagan Lake.
RCMP say on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m., a black Dodge pickup truck travelling westbound on Highway 97 in Peachland sustained a blown front tire causing the driver to lose control and veer into the oncoming lanes, striking an eastbound GMC Yukon.
The truck left the road and landed upright in Okanagan Lake. The driver was able to free himself by breaking the driver-side window.
“This collision could have resulted in multiple injuries or even death, but fortunately no one was injured,” Const. Mike Della-Paolera with the Kelowna RCMP said.
The RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or have dash camera video to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at (250) 762-2880 and reference file number 2023-61004.
