RCMP issue public warning after bus stop incident
RCMP are alerting the public about an attempted sexual assault of a child in Kelowna.
Police say on Tuesday, Oct. 24 around 8:15 a.m., a male approached and sat beside a youth who was waiting for a bus at a BC Transit bus stop in the area of Glenmore Drive North and Summit Drive.
“The male engaged in a brief conversation before allegedly assaulting the youth. The youth fled the area and was followed for a brief distance by the suspect,” Const. Mike Della-Paolera said.
The man is described as South Asian descent with an athletic build, approximately 5-foot-11 to six-feet tall with a two to three-inch black beard and a mustache. He could be in his late 40s to early 50s with a tattoo on his upper right arm. He was wearing a grey t-shirt with black jeans and a leather jacket and Air Jordan shoes.
“Given the serious nature of this incident, police are alerting the public and seeking information to aid with their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police” Della-Paolera, a media relations officer, said.
Anyone with information on the incident, or with dashcam video from that time and area, is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at (250) 762-3300 and reference file number 2023-63620.
