A Greater Vernon product is leading the Western Hockey League in scoring after the first month of the season.
Zac Funk from Coldstream, a forward with the Prince George Cougars, recorded 30 points (14G-16A) in 14 games, and on Wednesday, was named the WHL Player of the Month.
The 20-year-old started the season on fire, named Tempo WHL Player of the Week on September 25 after posting seven points (3G-4A) in two games on opening weekend.
Funk, a 6-foot, 210-pound right winger, has recorded eight multi-point performances through 14 games. He also leads the WHL in power-play goals with nine.
His Prince George Cougars are first in the WHL with a record of 10-4-0-0, and are the highest-scoring team in the league with 74 goals-for in 14 games (5.29 goals per game).
Funk was originally selected by the Calgary Hitmen in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2018 WHL Draft.
