Known offender nabbed after a month in the Okanagan
Kelowna RCMP have arrested a property crime offender who had moved to the area from the Kootenays.
In September, the RCMP Target Team launched an investigation into the repeat offender, with the assistance from police agencies from Vernon, Lake Country and Summerland.
Over the course of the investigation, police intercepted and recovered over $500,000 worth of stolen property from the individual.
On Oct. 21, the male suspect was arrested by RCMP officers while breaking into a secure compound in Kelowna. He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on Nov. 16.
“This coordinated investigation shows the continued efforts of the Kelowna RCMP and it’s proactive enforcement units including the target team to reduce property crime and target active offenders in our community,” Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay of the Kelowna RCMP Target Team, said.
The man, who police say is Kevin Andrew Brophy, faces numerous charges, including break and enter, possession of stolen property over $5,000, theft over $5,000, theft under $5,000, and mischief.
The investigation is ongoing as police believe several other recent incidents are associated with the suspect.
