COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations decline in Interior
The number of COVID-19 infections resulting in a hospitalization saw a large decline on a weekly basis in both the Interior and the entire province.
The B.C. Centre for Disease Control’s weekly update stated there were just eight people admitted to hospital with COVID-19 in the Interior between Nov. 12 and 18, marking a significant drop from the 27 admissions the week before.
Across the entire province, there were 95 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the most recent reporting week, down from 178 the previous week.
There were two people admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICU) in the Interior between Nov. 12 and 18, up from one the week before. However, the province saw ICU admissions fall from 24 to 18 in the most recent report.
COVID-19 case numbers and deaths also declined on a weekly basis.
The BCCDC report stated there were 101 confirmed cases in the Interior between Nov. 12 and 18, which were part of the 357 recorded throughout B.C. Those were down from the previous week’s figures of 126 cases in the Interior and 478 in the entire province.
- The weekly report also stated there were 24 deaths linked to the virus in B.C., eight of which were recorded in the Interior. Those were down from the week prior when there were 38 deaths across the province, including nine in the Interior.
