$30K in stolen goods recovered by police
RCMP recovered thousands of dollars worth of stolen goods during a raid of a residence in the Brighton area of Kelowna.
Mounties executed a search warrant at a property in the 600 block of McKenzie Rd. as part of a stolen property investigation Thursday, Dec. 14.
During the search, officers uncovered roughly $30,000 worth of stolen goods including tools and sports equipment.
Some of the items were linked to recent break and enters in the Kettle Valley and Upper Mission areas, though police were still working to determine the origin of the other property.
Three individuals were arrested in the residence. They have since been released while the investigation continues and a report to Crown counsel is submitted to the B.C. Prosecution Service.
“This investigation was spearheaded by frontline patrol officers with assistance from our specialized sections to drive the kind of results we strive for every day,” Cpl. Michael Gauthier with the Kelowna RCMP’s Media Relations Unit, stated.
“We take property theft in our community very seriously. We hear your concerns, we see the statistics and we’re striking it hard.”
Mounties said having documentation of serial numbers was “instrumental” in the investigation and recovering thousands of dollars worth of tools.
The public is advised to document the serial numbers of their tools, bikes, electronics and other property as it can be key information to police during similar investigations.
