Five vehicles impounded in six days

Lake Country RCMP are reminding area residents that they are not taking the holidays off.

In fact, in six days, they took five cars off the road, four for impaired driving and one for excessive speeding.

The worst offender was nailed for doing 145 km/h in a 100 zone north of Lake Country on Highway 97, and was found to be over the alcohol limit following a breath sample.

The driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed, 90 day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30-day immediate roadside prohibition .

“We want everyone to enjoy the holidays being able to get to their homes and gatherings safely,” Cpl. Ryder Birtwistle with Lake Country RCMP said. “Lake Country officers will be on patrol to ensure the roads are safe to travel and will be looking for anyone placing other travellers in danger.”
