Stolen art recovered thanks to video

Mounties have recovered a piece of art stolen from the University of British Columbia Okanagan.

Kelowna RCMP said the artwork was taken from the 1500-block of Innovation Drive Saturday, Feb. 10, and was reported stolen the following Wednesday.

Police say the art piece, which was a portion of an old wall, was five feet tall and approximately 100 lbs.

A suspect vehicle was captured on CCTV during the theft, which was observed on Wednesday and reported to police.

Officers tracked down the vehicle and suspect. The stolen property was recovered at a residence located on Chase Rd. in the Winfield area.

The art piece has been returned to its rightful owner.
