Homicide investigation opened after body found near ski resort

Police have launched a homicide investigation after a deceased person was discovered in a rural area outside Kelowna.
The Southeast District RCMP’s Major Crime Unit said the body was found in a creek off the 201 Forest Service Road near Big White on the afternoon of Saturday, April 20.
“We can confirm it is being investigated as a homicide,” Cpl. James Grandy of the B.C. RCMP said.
“The investigation is in its preliminary stages, with no identified risk to the public.”
The B.C. Coroners Service and police were working together to identify the victim.
Police ask that anyone who may have been on the 201 Forest Service Road over the past two weeks, or observed anything suspicious call the Major Crime Unit tip line at 1-877-987-8477.
