Only one new COVID-19 case in B.C. Friday
Provincial health officials are reporting dramatically improved COVID-19 numbers Friday (June 5).
According to a news release, only one new case has been registered in all of B.C. The total will remain the same as Thursday, 2,632, due to a data correction that has resulted in one of Thursday’s cases being subtracted.
Additionally, the number of active cases in the provinces has dipped to 193.
Of those active cases, 21 are hospitalized and five are in intensive care.
There are no active cases in the Interior health region.
One more death has been reported today, in the Fraser Health area. That brings the provincial death toll to 167.
There are 2,272 people considered recovered from COVID-19, or 86 per cent of all cases.

- 905 (Vancouver Coastal)
- 1,335 (Fraser Health)
- 130 (Vancouver Island)
- 195 (Interior Health)
- 64 (Northern Health)
There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks and the outbreak at the Berkley Care Centre has been declared over. In total, five long-term care or assisted-living facilities continue to have active outbreaks.
There have been no new community outbreaks. Public health teams are providing support for the eight ongoing community outbreaks.
