Resort celebrates start of summer season

Big White Ski Resort picked a great time for its summer season to start.

“The sun is shining, the trails are opening, and soon, there will be thousands upon thousands of alpine wildflowers blooming – as of Friday, Big White Ski Resort, in all its summer beauty, is open to the public,” said a news release from the resort.

Over 300 people joined the Big White family in welcoming the summer season, with more sure to show up for Friday Night Bikes in the bike park.

“After being closed for 114 days we are so excited to open for summer,” said Michael J. Ballingall, Senior Vice President of Big White Ski Resort Ltd. “With record crowds on opening day, we’re expecting that people want to get out and about. We look forward to being that space they escape to with the family.”

The resort will be open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holiday Mondays until September 7, 2020. Resort staff have been busy preparing for this day – setting up hand sanitizing stations, additional outdoor seating, outdoor washrooms and outdoor public spaces – to ensure the health and safety of all guests, staff and on-mountain residents.
