Busy weekend for search and rescue
Central Okanagan Search and Rescue volunteers didn’t get much of a long weekend as they were kept busy.
One of the calls was to rescue an injured ATV repair in the Hills above West Kelowna near Bear Lake.
About 20 members responded by ground in case he couldn’t be choppered out before dark, but Wildcat helicopters managed to do the job just as dusk fell.
The COSAR team also spent three days searching for a missing cliff diver at Squally Point. Then on Sunday COSAR’s boat team responded to a report of a boat sinking with 10 people on board off of Prichard Drive in West Kelowna but was stood down when they were told all 10 made it ashore safely.
A few minutes later, COSAR was called to rescue the injured ATVer in the hills above West Kelowna near Bear Lake.
The rider had severely injured his arm and his companions were worried for his safety.
