UPDATE Missing man located
UPDATE 1:50 p.m.
A Lake Country man who was reported missing today (Aug. 21) has been located.
West Kelowna RCMP confirm the 53-year-old man reported missing has been located safe, due the coordinated efforts of Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR), West Kelowna RCMP frontline officers, RCMP Air Services and Police Dog Services.
“The man was spotted in rough, forested terrain by our RCMP Air Services helicopter who liaised with frontline officers, Central Okanagan Search and Rescue and Police Dog Services to safely assist the man out of the area,” states Cst. Solana Par, Media Relations Officer with the Kelowna Regional RCMP.
The man was located with minor injuries and received medical attention on scene from COSAR and Emergency Health Services.

West Kelowna RCMP is requesting public assistance in locating a missing Lake Country resident.
Terry Frank Simpson was last seen August 21, 2020 just after midnight leaving a campsite in the area near Bear Lake Main Forest Service Road and Blue Grouse Mountain Road in West Kelowna and has since failed to return.
Officers have requested the assistance of Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) and are utilizing a variety of police resources including air services and police dog services in the search for Terry.
Description of Terry:
- Caucasian male
- 53 years old
- 5 ft. 7 in (170 cm)
- 159 lbs (72 kg)
- Black hair
- Brown eyes
- Last seen wearing dark coloured shorts, shirt and backpack
Although it is reportedly out of character for Terry to be out of contact for so long, foul play is not suspected at this time. As such, both the RCMP and his friends and family are very concerned for his health and well-being.
