City of Kelowna crews will begin beautifying the northeast corner of Reid’s Corner this fall.
The area is being seeded with native and regionally appropriate species that thrive in the climate, to create a meadow.
The new meadow will evolve over time, as the grasses and flowering plants blend into a stable ecosystem. This innovative project is supported by the city and the Ministry of Transportation as a way to increase urban biodiversity and reduce maintenance time and resources.
Staff will be monitoring and evaluating this project with the goal of planting more of these meadows in the future.
