Okanagan Regional Library inks deal with CUPE
The Okanagan Regional Library (ORL) board has ratified a three-year agreement for the majority of its approximately 200 staff members.
The deal with members of the Canadian Union of Public Employee’s (CUPE) runs through 2023 and includes wage increases of two per cent a year over the three-year term. The current contract was due to expire at the end of December.
“We are pleased to have the stability with our employees,” Don Nettleton CEO Okanagan Regional Library, said. “It has been a difficult year with COVID-19 and staff have worked especially hard to continue providing service to our patrons.”
The deal covers all but about 25 of the library staff members. The others are members of a professional librarian association.
ORL has 31 branches in communities from Revelstoke to Princeton, excluding Penticton.
