Did you know, when the Eagles were recording Hotel California, they locked out the record company from listening to the rehearsals?
We’re celebrating the release date of one of the highest grossing albums in history, debuting Dec. 8, 1976.
After the band finally let the record execs into the studio (for the completed album listening party), Don Henley announced that the title track Hotel California would be the single. Don Felder, who wrote the music for the song, did not think it was a suitable pick, as singles on AM radio at the time of release were usually under 3 1/2 minutes.
The hotel on the album is The Beverly Hills Hotel, also known as the Pink Palace. It is a very popular place for celebrities to stay.
