Foiled getaway for suspect
An RCMP officer was in the right place at the right time to help catch a stolen vehicle suspect.
West Kelowna RCMP was notified that a black Subaru Legacy had been stolen from outside a residence this morning (Dec. 17) around 5:30 a.m.
A few minutes later, a Kelowna RCMP officer on routine patrol on Harvey Avenue spotted the stolen vehicle travelling eastbound near Gordon Drive. The officer followed the vehicle and, with the assistance of another officer, managed to stop the vehicle just before Banks Road.
The driver, and sole occupant refused to cooperate with police direction and was removed from the vehicle and arrested.
“It was determined that the 21-year-old Kelowna man also had two outstanding warrants for previous matters. He is currently in custody and will be held for court. The matter will be forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for review and charge approval,” said Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy, RCMP spokesperson.
