B.C. COVID-19 update Tuesday: 446 cases, nine deaths
B.C. is reporting 446 new COVID-19 cases today (Jan. 12), along with nine more deaths.
Sixty-seven (67) of the new cases are in Interior Health.
Elsewhere, there are 96 new cases in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 223 in Fraser Health, 14 in Island Health, 46 in Northern Health and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
There are 5,045 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 368 people in hospital and 72 in intensive or critical care.
Currently, 7,238 people are under active public health monitoring due to exposure to known cases and 51,144 people who tested positive are considered recovered.
With the nine deaths, the provincial death toll is now at 1,019.
Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, said 62,294 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine in B.C.
“Our focus is to ensure we safely deliver the vaccines as quickly as possible to B.C. communities, using all available supply,” Henry said in a statement.
