Province reports 471 new COVID-19 cases; 56 for Interior Health
The province announced 471 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday (Feb. 5), which includes 56 new cases in the Interior.
The 471 cases bring the B.C. total to 69,716, spread out as follows:
- 16,042 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 108)
- 41,603 — Fraser Health (up by 208)
- 1,782 — Island Health (up by 28)
- 6,569 — Interior Health (up by 56)
- 3,681 — Northern Health (up by 71)
- 144 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)
In a release this afternoon, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reported 4,423 active cases of the virus in B.C.- an decrease of 24 from Wednesday. There are 253 patients in hospital and 70 in intensive care.
Six more people have died of COVID-19, three in Interior Health, raising the province’s death toll to 1,246.
There are 6,886 people under active public health monitoring due to direct exposure to COVID-19. Another 62,567 people are considered fully recovered from the virus, or 90 per cent of all recorded cases.
Dr. Henry says 149,564 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, including 10,366 second doses.

Update on IH outbreaks:
· Westsyde Care Residence group home in Kamloops has 21 cases: 10 residents and 11 staff. All 21 cases are currently active.
· Royal Inland Hospital has 95 cases: 32 patients and 62 staff, with one death connected to this outbreak. There are 53 active cases.
· Cariboo Memorial Hospital has 14 cases: 12 staff and two patients. There is one active case.
· Brocklehurst Gemstone long-term care in Kamloops has 25 cases: 17 residents and eight staff, with two deaths connected to this outbreak. There are three active cases.
· Sunnybank long-term care in Oliver has 37 cases: 27 residents, 10 staff, with five deaths connected to this outbreak. There are 11 active cases.
· Creekside Landing long-term care in Vernon has 40 cases: 25 residents and 15 staff, with one death connected to this outbreak. There are six active cases.
· Noric House long-term care in Vernon has 68 cases: 39 residents and 29 staff, with nine deaths connected to this outbreak. There are 13 active cases.
· Heritage Square long-term care in Vernon has 68 cases: 47 residents and 21 staff, with nine deaths connected to this outbreak. There are seven active cases.
Other updates
There are four additional cases linked to the cluster at Big White.
There are 16 additional cases linked to the cluster in the Williams Lake area.
There are no new cases linked to the cluster in the Fernie region.
