UPDATE One dead, dozens injured in Coquihalla crash
UPDATE 3 p.m.
One person is dead and at least two others are in critical condition after a highway pileup this morning on the Coquihalla Highway near Hope.
Paramedics transported two patients to hospital by air in critical condition and three patients to hospital by ground in serious but stable condition.
Crews also tended to another 34 people with non-life-threatening injuries at the scene, and helped to transport more than 30 to a nearby warming station in Hope.
The northbound lanes of the highway in that area are closed.

RCMP say one person has died and others were injured after a multi-vehicle crash outside of Hope today (Feb. 10).
The incident occurred in the northbound lanes of the Coquihalla Highway about 5 minutes north of Hope. In a release, RCMP state there is an undetermined number of people injured and one person has died as a result of the crash.
According to RCMP Traffic Services, weather conditions may be a significant contributing factor. Cpl. Mike Halscov said at 11:30 a.m. an update may follow as more information becomes available.
Motorists are asked to obey the direction of traffic control personnel and consider delaying their travel plans or taking alternate routes. So far there is no estimated time for when the road will reopen.
