No big jumps or dips in B.C. Covid cases
COVID-19 cases in B.C. continue to remain relatively stable, averaging between 400 and 500 new cases a day.
The province reported 469 cases on Wednesday after 435 on Tuesday and an average of 412 a day last weekend.
There have been six new COVID-19 related deaths, for a total of 1,269.
One of the new deaths was at Noric House in Vernon, the tenth at that long-term care facility.
A second death was at the Westsyde group home in Kamloops.
Case counts by health region:
- 100 Vancouver Coastal Health
- 243 Fraser Health
- 25 Island Health
- 46 Interior Health
- 53 Northern Health
- 2 people who reside outside Canada
There are 4,305 active cases in the province, with 230 hospitalized and 66 in intensive care.
Currently, 6,820 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases and a further 66,167 people who tested positive are considered recovered.
There is one new health-care facility outbreak at Carrington Place Retirement Residence in Vernon. The outbreak at Minoru Residence is now over.
Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix are urging residents to stay home this long weekend, “to show your family and friends you care by not giving COVID-19 the opportunity to spread.”
“There are over 200 activities happening around the province this weekend that you and your loved ones can safely enjoy.”

The update on COVID vaccinations in B.C. shows 157,797 doses have been administered, 14,316 of which are second doses.

· Outbreak declared at Carrington Place in Vernon. LINK
· Highridge/Singh House group home in Kamloops has seven cases: 1 resident and six staff. There are six active cases.
· Westsyde Care Residence group home in Kamloops has 26 cases: 14 residents and 12 staff, with one death connected to this outbreak. There are 17 active cases.
· Royal Inland Hospital has 105 cases: 36 patients and 69 staff, with one death connected to this outbreak. There are 40 active cases.
· Cariboo Memorial Hospital has 14 cases: 12 staff and two patients. There are no active cases.
· Brocklehurst Gemstone long-term care in Kamloops has 25 cases: 17 residents and eight staff, with two deaths connected to this outbreak. There are two active cases.
· Sunnybank long-term care in Oliver has 38 cases: 27 residents, 11 staff/other, with six deaths connected to this outbreak. There are eight active cases.
· Creekside Landing long-term care in Vernon has 40 cases: 25 residents and 15 staff, with one death connected to this outbreak. There are three active cases.
· Noric House long-term care in Vernon has 68 cases: 39 residents and 29 staff, with 10 deaths connected to this outbreak. There are eight active cases.
· Heritage Square long-term care in Vernon has 70 cases: 47 residents and 23 staff, with nine deaths connected to this outbreak. There are six active cases.
