B.C. sees 427 new COVID-19 cases; 47 in Interior Health
B.C. is reporting 427 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday (Feb. 17), including 47 within Interior Health.
The new figures came in a prepared statement from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.
There have been a total of 74,710 cases in B.C. since the pandemic began, spread out thusly:
- 17,225 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 90)
- 44,220 — Fraser Health (up by 236)
- 2,026 — Island Health (up by 18)
- 7,055 — Interior Health (up by 47)
- 4,135 — Northern Health (up by 31)
- 154 — Reside outside of Canada (up by 5)
There are 4,150 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. Wednesday, down by 39 from Tuesday. Henry reports 232 people in hospital, with 63 in intensive care.
Three more people have died of the virus, raising the province’s death toll to 1,317.
The total of those under active public health surveillance due to direct COVID-19 is at 7,238.
There are now 69,167 people considered fully recovered from the virus, or 93 per cent of all recorded cases.
Henry says 176,015 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C., including 26,030 second doses.

Interior Health update
· Interior Health declared two outbreaks over today.
- Cariboo Memorial Hospital had 14 cases: 12 staff and two patients.
- Sunnybank long-term care in Oliver had 38 cases: 27 residents, 11 staff/other, with six deaths connected to this outbreak.
Update on outbreaks:
· Carrington Place in Vernon has two cases: one resident and one staff.
· Highridge/Singh House group home in Kamloops has 13 cases: five residents and eight staff.
· Westsyde Care Residence group home in Kamloops has 30 cases: 16 residents and 14 staff, with one death connected to this outbreak.
· Royal Inland Hospital has 105 cases: 36 patients and 69 staff, with one death connected to this outbreak.
· Brocklehurst Gemstone long-term care in Kamloops has 32 cases: 24 residents and eight staff, with two deaths connected to this outbreak.
· Creekside Landing long-term care in Vernon has 40 cases: 25 residents and 15 staff, with one death connected to this outbreak.
· Noric House long-term care in Vernon has 67 cases: 39 residents and 28 staff, with 10 deaths connected to this outbreak.
