The Salvation Army is elated with the results of its larget one day fundraiser of the year, ScotiaBank Match Day, which was held Dec. 12, 2020.
Forty-nine employees from Scotiabank in Kelowna, West Kelowna and Vernon volunteered their time to host a Salvation Army Christmas Kettle at various sites, with Covid-19 safety measures in place.
The goal was to raise funds for The Salvation Army, with Scotiabank matching the amount up to $15,000. At the end of the day, a record-breaking $61,713 was raised, for a total of $82,713 with the match.
“This has been a critical annual event for the past eleven years, and to receive such amazing support once again from Scotiabank and from this amazing community, it is very humbling and we are extremely grateful,” Captain Darryl Burry, Executive Director for the Kelowna Salvation Army, stated.

“The Scotiabank Match Day is our largest one-day fundraiser for the year, and so we are deeply thankful for this amazing community partner and how year-after-year they step forward to assist those in need,” Burry said.
