COVID vaccination clinic at Big White Ski Resort
Interior Health (IH) is working with Big White administration to try to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on staff living in group housing.
There was a large community cluster at Big White.
“We can provide the vaccine now, so we can close out the cluster,” IH Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Albert de Villiers stated.
The health authority will be on the mountain Saturday and Sunday (March 20-21) to vaccinate people who live in a congregate setting within a non-family household at Big White.
People must meet the above criteria and must pre-register to receive an appointment to be vaccinated.
Persons must be 18 years of age or older to be vaccinated and anyone who is actively sick with COVID-19 cannot be vaccinated.
Details on the clinic times and location can be found here.
“We will have checks in place to make sure anyone presenting themselves at the clinic is indeed eligible,” IH Vice President of Pandemic Response Karen Bloemink, told a Thursday media briefing.
Employees of Big White, or on mountain businesses, and those with a Big White address are eligible if they are living in congregate non-family housing.
No other B.C. Interior ski resorts will be getting vaccination clinics.
Interior Health also indicates other high risk groups, that are required to be in close contact with other are being looked at for vaccination, but Bloemink declined to name any of the organizations.
