Hotel Motel Association celebrates Heart of Hospitality Awards

The awards that recognize local hotel and motel employees have been handed out.

The Kelowna Hotel Motel Association held a virtual event to announce its Heart of Hospitality awards.

The awards were launched in 2017 to recognize front line staff who have gone above and beyond to provide exceptional experiences to Kelowna and area visitors.

“As we all know, 2020 was such a challenging year for the hospitality industry, therefore hearing and sharing these stories was a much-needed chance to come together. Nominees were put forward by KHMA member hotels for delivering exceptional service in 2020,” a news release stated.

The awards recognized three categories this year: Heart & Soul recipient, nominated through peer and co-worker stories; Service Superstar nominated through guest stories; and Spirit of Kelowna in partnership with Tourism Kelowna.

The 2020 award recipients are:

• Heart & Soul….. Jane Goldring, Sandman Hotels
• Service Superstar….. Jill Breer, Eldorado Resort
• Spirit of Kelowna ….. Tie Winners: Ginnette Parenteau, Best Western Plus AND Sergio Cunial, Ramada Hotel & Conference Centre.
