B.C. COVID-19 case count grows by 289, with 35 new cases in Interior Health

VICTORIA — As B.C. announced a road map to reduced COVID-19 restrictions Tuesday, the province recorded another 289 cases of the virus.

The totals are included in a report prepared by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry. There were 35 new cases found in Interior Health.

Overall, B.C. has seen 142,636 cases of the virus since the start of the pandemic, spread out as follows:

34,471 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 70)
83,225 — Fraser Health (up by 176)
5,018 — Island Health (up by 3)
12,121 — Interior Health (up by 35)
7,603 — Northern Health (up by 4)
198 — Reside outside of Canada (up by 1)

There are 3,782 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. Tuesday, a decrease of 171 from Monday. There are 301 people in hospital and 93 in intensive care.

One more person has died of the virus, lifting the province’s death toll to 1,680.

A total of 137,062 people are considered fully recovered from COVID-19, or 96 per cent of all recorded cases.

Henry notes a total of 2,927,487 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, including 148,580 second doses. Overall, 64.6 per cent of all adults in B.C. have received at least one dose of vaccine.
