UPDATE: RCMP locate and arrest suspect in man’s death
KELOWNA – A man sought by police in connection with a suspicious death in Kelowna has been apprehended.
Police were called to a residence in the Rutland area on Sunday, May 30 just after 10:00 p.m., after an adult male resident was located deceased.
Mounties put out a request for information for Lorence Williams, 40, who was considered a suspect in the death.
Williams was located Monday evening (May 31) and taken into custody by Kelowna RCMP thanks to a tip from the public.
“The Kelowna RCMP wishes to thank the media and the general public for their assistance and tip information,” Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said.
“Our Serious Crime Unit continues to pursue all avenues of investigation into this suspicious death,” Noseworthy added. “At this time, we do not believe there is any further threat to the public.”

“At this time, we are not releasing the name of the deceased,” Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said. “However police believe that the victim and the suspect were known to one another.”
The Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken control of the investigation and is seeking the public’s help in locating Lorence Williams, 40, who is being considered a suspect in the death.
Williams is described as:
– Black male
– 40-years-old
– Short black hair
– 6’0”/183 cm
– Thin build
“If Lorence sees or hears this, we ask him to contact the police of jurisdiction immediately,” Noseworthy said.
Should you encounter Williams, or have information regarding his whereabouts, do not approach him and immediately call 911.
