Man charged in Kelowna murder case

Charges have been laid in a Kelowna homicide investigation.
The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved a charge of second degree murder against Dereck Donald Sears in the death of Darren Middleton.
Middleton’s body was found around 1:30 a.m. on June 17, 2021 at a residence in the 1200-block of Sycamore Road in Kelowna.
Sears was arrested later that day.
He has been remanded in custody, and his next court appearance is on June 24.
Police are not releasing any other information about the case.
