B.C. Covid update Friday: 84 new cases over two days
British Columbia’s new COVID-19 cases remained low over the Canada Day holiday.
The province said there were 49 new cases on Thursday (July 1) and 35 cases on Friday for a total of 84.
Interior Health had 25 of the cases, with 21 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 36 in Fraser Health and two in the Northern Health region. There are no new cases in the Island Health region.
There are 729 active cases with 99 people in hospital with COVID-19, and 30 of those in intensive care.
There is one new outbreak at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. The outbreak at Glenwood Seniors Community in the Fraser Health region is now over.
There have been two new COVID-19 related deaths, for a total of 1,756 in B.C.
Just over 5.1 million COVID vaccines have gone into arms in B.C.
As of Friday, 78.7 per cent of all adults in B.C. and 77.5 per cent of those 12 and older have now received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 35.2 per cent of all adults and 32.9 per cent of those 12 and older have received their second dose.
