Active COVID-19 cases for the Interior rise for fourth consecutive day
Interior Health capped off it’s week by having active COVID-19 cases climb for the fourth day in a row.
IH saw 110 new cases reported Friday, bringing the active case count up to 686.
The new cases were part of 549 recorded across the province, and B.C.’s active case count as of Friday was 4,483.
The Ministry of Health also noted that hospitalizations due to COVID-19 complications rose to 441 on Friday, with 129 of those patients in intensive care.
There was also one new death, located in the Northern Health jurisdiction, and a total of 2,201 British Columbians have now died due to COVID-19.
The first dose vaccination rate for British Columbians age 12 and over rose to 90.2 per cent Friday, and the second dose rate rose to 85.7 per cent.
The province notes that a new health-care facility outbreak was confirmed in the Fraser Health area, bringing the province’s active outbreak site list to 37, with seven of those located in the Interior.

- Royal Inland Hospital unit 5S in Kamloops: 18 patient and five staff cases
