Interior Health home to 862 active COVID-19 cases
There were 862 active COVID-19 cases in Interior Health’s jurisdiction.
The increase came as 140 new cases were identified in the region Friday. No numbers were reported by the province on Remembrance Day.
There were two COVID-19 deaths reported in the Interior over the past two days, and 23 reported province wide. A total of 2,257 British Columbians have now died due to complications of the coronavirus, including 283 in the Interior.
The B.C. Centre for Disease Control notes that, as of Friday afternoon, there were 384 COVID-19 patients in hospital across the province, 124 of whom were in intensive care.
In the Interior there were 66 patients in hospital with COVID-19, 38 of whom were in intensive care.
As of Friday, there were four health-care facility outbreaks in the Interior.
- Village by the Station long-term care in Penticton: 27 resident and 14 staff cases, three deaths.
- Sun Pointe Village long-term care in Kelowna: seven resident and three staff cases.
- Brocklehurst Gemstone long-term care in Kamloops: four resident and two staff cases
- Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops: Unit 5S has 19 patient and seven staff/other cases, two death. Unit 7N has four patient cases, while Unit 6S has eight patient cases.
Millar College of the Bible in Tappen is also considered an outbreak site by Interior Health, with 31 cases associated with the facility.
