Interior Health closes out week with B.C.’s most new COVID-19 cases
Interior Health has again recorded more new COVID-19 cases than any other health authority in the province.
Of the 288 new cases confirmed across B.C. Friday, 93 were located in the Interior. Fraser Health had the second highest new case count at 71, followed by Vancouver Coastal and Island Health, which both had 47.
The number of COVID-19 patients in B.C.’s hospitals fell by 20 to 368 Friday, while the number of intensive care patients decreased by six to 46. In the Interior there were 83 COVID-19 patients in hospital, seven of whom were in intensive care.
There were no deaths linked to the virus in B.C. Friday.
The provincial COVID-19 vaccination rates for eligible British Columbians age five and over were recorded at 90.7 per cent for first doses and 86.6 per cent for second jabs Friday.
Additionally, 56.4 per cent of British Columbians aged 12 and over have received a booster shot.
