RCMP release photo of suspect vehicle in fatal shooting
RCMP have released a photo of a vehicle that investigators believe was involved in a fatal shooting in Vernon last week.
A 38-year-old man was killed on Friday, June 3 in the parking lot of a condominium complex in the 5300-block of 25th Avenue just before 6:00 p.m.
The homicide was described by the RCMP Serious Crimes Unit as a targeted crime.
“Surveillance footage uncovered during the investigation captured a small, black, 4-door sedan fleeing the scene at the time of the shooting,” said Constable Chris Terleski, media relations officer for Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.
On Saturday, June 4, at around 4:45 p.m., a black 2004 BMW 320i was reported abandoned and on fire in the 5300 block of Heywood Armstrong Road in Spallumcheen.
“Police believe this to be the vehicle used in the shooting incident and are turning to the public for their assistance,” Terleski stated.

“We’re asking for anyone who was travelling in the area of and between these locations around the time frames shown below, who may have dash cam footage or information about this vehicle to contact the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at (250) 545-7171,” Terleski said.
A resident of the area where the shooting occurred heard as many as six shots at the time of the incident.
The victim’s name has not been released, but police say he was known to them.
