BCHL outlines ways to modernize junior hockey
The BC Hockey League has released a document outlining various ways to improve junior hockey in Canada, called: Modernizing Junior Hockey in Canada.
It has been sent to Hockey Canada, BC Hockey and the review committee overseeing the examination of Hockey Canada’s structure and leadership.
One concern the league raises is that it has to operate in a system “that penalizes elite players for choosing to play college-tracking junior hockey, instead of major junior, in their home country.”
The league said the rules are “proving to be unfair to some of its best young athletes, their individual development and their families.”
The document also looks at ways to improve Hockey Canada.
