ICBC urges caution with Halloween driving
People behind the wheel are reminded to be careful and attentive on Halloween.
Data from the Insurance Corporation of B.C. (ICBC) shows there were 620 crashes resulting in 240 injuries across B.C. last Oct. 31.
On average, there are 110 crashes and 29 injuries recorded in the Southern Interior each Halloween.
The Crown Corporation encourages people drive to the speed limit, avoid distractions, be patient of the extra people out on the road, and anticipate people crossing the street.
Families are reminded to have their kids wear reflective clothing or carry lights while trick-or-treating, plan a safe route to avoid busy roads, and stay on sidewalks and use crosswalks.
Adults celebrating Halloween are advised to avoid alcohol if driving and plan a safe way home.
ICBC also asks that people not light fireworks on or near streets.
