Snow forecasted for Coquihalla and Connector
Travellers are advised that snow is expected to fall on the Okanagan Connector.
An estimated 15 to 20 centimetres is forecast to accumulate on the highway between Thursday afternoon and Friday evening.
Environment Canada said an atmospheric river moving over the coast will bring the snow to the Southern Interior.
Gusting winds are also expected as part of the weather system, which could blow the fresh snow around and reduce visibility for drivers.
The weather system is also predicted to bring 15 to 20 cm of snow to the Coquihalla Highway and to Allison Pass between Hope and Princeton.
The weather agency warns travellers to be prepared for quickly changing and deteriorating road conditions as the snow accumulates on the highway.
It also warns that weather in the mountains can change suddenly, resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
Travellers are advised to carry chains and an emergency kit in their vehicles and to check DriveBC prior to getting behind the wheel.
Winter tires are required by law on B.C. highways until the end of April.
