Public invited to give curling a try
If you’ve ever want to give curling a try, the Kelowna Curling Club is providing that opportunity this weekend.
The venue is hosting a free open house Saturday (Nov. 5) from noon to 4 p.m.
“Curling Day in British Columbia is Nov. 5 and the Kelowna Curling Club wanted to reach out to the community to try curling,” Jock Tyre, general manager, said
All ages and abilities are welcome to give it a try, with free hot chocolate, tea or coffee provided.
Registration is on www.Eventbrite.ca (and search curling).
Tyre said the Kelowna Curling Club is the largest club in Canada with 12 sheets of ice and over 1,100 members.
The season runs October to the end of March and the club hosts a large International summer spiel and camps in July.
“The club was started in April of 1942 so will be celebrating it’s 80th season next year,” Tyre noted.
