‘Crime spree’ prolific offender arrested
A prolific offender has been taken into custody by Kelowna RCMP.
Trevor Parkstrom, a 47-year-old Lake Country man, is alleged to have committed significant numbers of property crimes across the Okanagan over the past three months.
The RCMP’s Pro-Active Enforcement Team, which uses data and analytics to target and respond to crime, determined Parkstrom was connected to 12 files from December and 22 files in the past 90 days that range from theft over $5,000, fraud and possession of stolen property.
He has also been named in approximately 150 calls for service since 2013.
On Sunday, Dec. 18, Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of suspicious activity, where they located and arrested Parkstrom in a stolen F-250 truck in Kelowna.
The B.C. Prosecution Service approved charges and detention against Parkstrom, who will be held in custody until his court date in the first week of January.
Parkstrom also has a number of files from the North, Central and South Okanagan, which may be investigated and used to generate additional charges.
“Our teams work from the data and intelligence gathered, to piece together the facts and evidence and develop strong cases for court. We prioritize those who are ruthlessly committing crime and we take lawful action through investigations to stop property crime,” Cpl. Guillaume Tanguary of the Kelowna RCMP, said.
“Our communities have been significantly impacted by this crime spree.”
