Avian flu outbreak in Okanagan

A flock of birds in Summerland is reportedly infected with avian flu.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said the outbreak was first detected Dec. 29, 2022.
The affected poultry flock is non-commercial.
A primary control zone was issued for the affected flock Jan. 1 in an attempt to prevent the spread of the virus, which is highly transmissible among bird populations.

It was not disclosed how many animals are affected in this outbreak.
