Supersized growth could lead to a supersized property tax increase for Lake Country taxpayers.
RCMP cost increases were triggered when the population passed 15,000 residents.
Rising inflation rates are also resulting in escalated cost of services, contracts, and wages throughout the district.
Council says the 2023 property tax increase will range somewhere between 10 and 19 per cent.
“To put the increase into perspective, a 1 per cent increase results in approximately a $20 annual increase, for the average single-family home. BC Assessment has determined that the average single-family home in Lake Country in 2023 is $1.087 million,” a news release from the district stated.
