UPDATE: Pedestrian dies after collision with truck

RCMP say a motor vehicle incident at the intersection of Harvey Ave. and Gordon Drive in Kelowna this morning resulted in the death of a 27-year-old Kelowna woman.
Police say the woman was crossing the street at the intersection against the crosswalk indicator and was hit by a semi trailer truck in the westbound HOV lane.
She died of her injuries in hospital.
The BC Coroner’s Service has taken conduct of the investigation.
“The scene has since been released and the highway is now open with assistance from BC Highway Patrol, CVSE and the Ministry of Transportation,” Const. Michael Gauthier, media relations officer, said.

Some roads have been closed to allow police to investigate a serious motor vehicle incident in Kelowna.
Media reports say a pedestrian was hit by a semi truck with no word on the severity of the injuries.
RCMP reported the incident just after 10 a.m. (Feb. 17) at the intersection of Gordon Drive and Harvey Avenue.
“Westbound lanes from Burtch Rd. to Ethel St., along with northbound lanes from Laurier Ave. to Leon Ave. through the intersection, will be closed while this investigation is ongoing,” Const. Michael Gauthier, media relations officer, said.
Eastbound traffic on Harvey Ave. remains open.
Mounties are asking motorists to avoid the crash area and to expect congestion in and around that intersection.
