Resident cashes in on Super Bowl 50/50
An Okanagan resident was among those celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs win on Superbowl Sunday, but for a slightly different reason.
Wesley Heppner of Kelowna won $85,204 after purchasing a B.C. 50/50 ticket for the Feb. 12 draw.
Heppner told the B.C. Lottery Corporation he was at a Super Bowl party when he made an impulse decision to purchase the ticket.
“A friend said he had [bought] some 50/50 tickets so during the half time I ran to the store to pick up a few as well,” Heppner told BCLC.
It wasn’t until Heppner returned home after the game that he found out he had the winning ticket.
“I was so happy and kept calling my girlfriend to come and see but she didn’t believe me at first!” he said.
Heppner said he plans to use some of the money to upgrade his truck, adding “it feels really good” to be a winner.
