Kelowna firefighters were called to deal with a 30 foot by 30 foot wildfire below Mount Baldy Drive at the north end of Dilworth Drive Sunday afternoon.
Access was an issue so crews initially cut a guard around the fire to contain it until hose lines were in place and a water source was secured and it was quickly extinguished.
The fire appears to have started in a homeless camp.
“There were no injuries to public or firefighters,” Captain Scott Clarke said.
Meantime, a garage fire near Gallagher’s on Saturday evening destroyed the structure and everything that was inside.
Kelowna Fire Department got the call to the 3800 block of Water Road about 9 p.m.
There were no hydrants nearby so a water tender was used.
The fire was deemed accidental.
