UPDATE: Wildfire near Penticton under control
UPDATE 3 p.m. June 2:
The Blue Mountain wildfire west of Penticton is under control.
The B.C. Wildfire Service stated the fire was contained and not likely to spread any further thanks to suppression efforts.
The spot sized 0.1 hectare fire was discovered at 10:59 p.m. Thursday, June 1, and was considered under control by 2:08 p.m. Friday, June 2.

UPDATE 12 p.m. June 2:
The wildfire that sparked on Blue Mountain west of Penticton has been brought under control.
The B.C. Wildfire Service stated that, as of 10:16 a.m., the fire was being held.
Four B.C. Wildfire Service members and a response officer are tasked with fighting the 0.1 hectare wildfire, and a helicopter has also been made available to assist in those efforts.

A small wildfire started just west of Penticton late Thursday night.
The B.C. Wildfire Service said the fire on Blue Mountain was discovered at approximately 10:59 p.m. Thursday, June 1.
As of 10 a.m. Friday, the fire was estimated to be 0.1 hectares, which is considered spot sized.
It was considered out of control and not responding to suppression efforts.
There was no word on if the smoke was visible in Penticton and the surrounding area.
One response officer and one attack crew made up of four B.C. Wildfire Service firefighters were tasked with fighting the blaze as of 10 a.m.
Additionally, one helicopter has reportedly been made available to assist with the firefighting efforts.
The B.C Wildfire Service’s initial suspicion was that the fire was caused by a lightning strike.
